At People’s Choice, our members are our owners. Our profits go back to benefiting you as members, not shareholders. By joining us, you’re becoming a member-owner as well. You'll not only see the benefit of our profits going back into the products you take out with us, but you'll have a say in how we do it. In order to become a member, we need to check a few things. Read below to learn more.

    What you need to have ready

    To become a member, People's Choice is required by law to verify your identity. This should only take 10-15 minutes to complete. We'll need to verify your identity, and you need to be an Australian resident. We'll also need 100 points of ID in order to make your application process quick, so please have the following documents ready: • Australian driver's licence, Australian passport or Employment visa (if you hold a foreign passport) • Australian Tax File Number (TFN) or Taxpayer Identification Number or equivalent. • Medicare card. We use greenID, a secure online verification service to do this. The information you provide will be compared against relevant information databases.         Important to know

        • As part of your membership application, People's Choice Credit Union ("People's Choice", "we" or "us") will perform an identity check.

          To perform this identity check, we will disclose your name, residential address and date of birth (your personal information) to a credit reporting body, to assess whether the personal information disclosed matches (in whole or in part), personal information about you held in the credit reporting body’s records (if any). The credit reporting body will assist us to electronically verify your identity for the purposes of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Act 2006. The credit reporting body may provide us with an assessment using your personal information including the names, residential addresses and dates of birth of other individuals contained in its records. If you disagree with having your identity verified electronically using a credit reporting body, other option is available to you, including you attending any one of People's Choice branches to be verified in person. Please contact us on 13 11 82 so we can discuss these options with you. If you prefer to have your identity verified in person, you will not be able to proceed with this online membership application.
